Homestay is best for your English

Staying with a family arranged by Select English is a very good way of improving your English speaking skills. Although your teacher will help you develop grammar and language awareness, the best way to improve overall fluency in English is to use it in the real world; our homestay summer courses offer a fantastic opportunity to do this.

Chatting with the host family, using the local bus service, shopping and generally participating in the local community as much as possible will help enormously. Years of working with students from around the world has shown us again and again that it is the students who engage in conversation with the host family and who are not afraid to practise their English who improve the fastest - there is nothing like successfully communicating to boost your confidence!

Often you will find that there is another student in the host family who speaks a different language to you and who you will need to speak English to in order to communicate. Take advantage of this - you will be helping each other.
